Two weeks ago, Pep Guardiola sent his Bayern Munich team into an away game in the German Bundesliga against FC Augsburg. On the same day – three hours later and 1,600 miles away – a man called Mick McElwee sent his Lincoln Red Imps FC team into an away game in the Gibraltar Premier Division against Glacis United. Bayern lost 1-0. Lincoln won 3-0.

For the vast majority of football fans there was no connection whatsoever between these two clubs, matches and results. But a small group of people viewed this differently. For them, Guardiola had been playing against McElwee for the 54th time in a row. And McElwee had now come out on top. Continue reading


Saleh Salem BAHWINI is the new president of the IFFHS

The Executive Committee Members of the International Federation of Football History & Statistic (IFFHS) have attended the IFFHS Election meeting held in Dubai, UAE on 23 MARCH 2014 at 10am at the Fairmont conference Hall and it resolved by unanimous decision to elect Mr. Saleh Salem BAHWINI for the position of the presidency of the International Federation of Football History & Statistics for a period of five years effective 23 March 2014.



Two africans on Top with 6 Goals each

With already 91 matches played – 225 goals scored in African Club Competitions, the first World Top Goal Scorer list for 2014 ( only international and (inter)continental goals) was topped by 2 African players : Mouhcine Iajour of Morocco and Raja AC Casablanca and Mrisho Ngassa of Tanzania and Young Africans SC. Iajour, winner of the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup Bronze Ball, scored 2 international goals and 4 club goals, while Ngassa scored 6 club goals, being 2 hat-tricks, home and away, in CAF Champions League preliminary round.
