Havre Athlétic Club, which is based in Le Havre, is the oldest football club in France (founded in 1872). Its player Charles Wilkes (1879-1939), who was from the Channel Islands (also known as Norman Islands in France), was originally English but had taken on French citizenship. He also did military service with the French army.
Although the USFSA issued a standard jersey for all players, each player had to bring his own shorts. These were not standardised.

El Havre Athlétic Club, que es un equipo de Le Havre, es el club más antiguo de Francia (fundado en 1872). Su jugador Charles Wilkes (1879-1939), que era de las Islas Anglonormandas, era de origen inglés pero había adquirido la nacionalidad francesa. También realizó el servicio militar en el ejército francés.
Aunque la USFSA ponía a disposición de todos los jugadores una camisa uniforme, cada jugador tenía que llevar sus propios pantalones cortos, que no estaban uniformados.

Havre Athlétic Club ist ein Verein aus Le Havre, der älteste Fussballverein Frankreichs (1872 gegründet). Sein Spieler Charles Wilkes (1879- 1939) stammte von den Normannischen Inseln (Channel Islands), war englischer Abstammung, hatte aber die französische Staatsbürgerschaft angenommen. Er absolvierte seinen Militärdienst auch für Frankreich.
Der Verband (USFSA) stellte nur das für alle einheitliche Hemd zur Verfügung. Die Hose hatte jeder Spieler selbst mitzubringen, die dann nicht einheitlich war.

Le Havre Athlétic Club, basé au Havre, est le plus vieux club de football en France (fondé en 1872). Son joueur Charles Wilkes (1879-1939), originaire des îles normandes, était à l’origine anglais mais il a pris la nationalité française. Il fit le service militaire avec l’armée française.
L’USFSA ne fournit qu’un maillot aux joueurs qui ont dû apporter leur propre short. Les tenues ne furent pas en parfaite harmonie.
